How and when did you get started making jewlery?

I've always had a love and passion for jewelry. I thought about what I wanted in my life and decided to follow my love of jewelry into fabricating my own.

Describe a typical day in the 'Gaia Metal Studio'...I wake up and check for orders and answer emails and conversations. I like to draw and write in a journal while drinking my coffee. I either head out to estate sales to fill my vintage shop on etsy or I start working in my shop, making orders or just letting the metal guide me with inspiration. Creativity is a fickle mistress, so if one medium isn't being kind to me, like my solder isn't flowing, I will go and work on my watercolors or painting.

If you could describe your work/shop in ONE word, what would it be? Why?

Pride. I earned and worked hard for each piece of equipment in my shop. When I look around it is just a reminder of how far I have come.

Do you have any advice for someone just starting up their own creative business?

Start slowly by taking a few hours a day dedicating time to your craft. Over time your craft will start paying off and you will be able to dedicate more time toward it. I started with three hours a day and now it is full time!

What's your favorite thing about being your own boss?
I really love the the creative freedom of being my own boss. It also does take some discipline, but so worth it.
