Glamping-Camping with Style-Algonquin Park

It had been over 10 years since I had been camping...so Mike and I figured it was about time to camp it up...and you know what? I missed it! Some people wouldn't peg me as a 'sleep in the tent with the wild animals' kind of gal, and I'll admit I do prefer the comfort of my bed, but I do really enjoy 'roughing' it out in the wilderness too :) Minus the wild animals.

Ok, actually I did have a secret plan up my sleeve for making things a bit more comfortable while we were camping....

Our site all spiffed up...
There are several types of extremes when it comes to Glamping. You can view a few different versions here. My version is a bit more understated but pretty. To me, it was about bringing the comforts and familiarity of home with us, but still enjoying the simplicity of being outdoors...

On my list to pack:
Air mattress
Sheet Set
Our quilt and pillows from our bed at home
2 Sleeping bags-one to throw on top of the air mattress, under the fitted sheet-extra warmth-the other for under our quilt
Camping Lanterns

Since this trip was in celebration of our 10 year anniversary, it gave me an excuse to glam up our picnic table!

On my list to pack:
Cutesy Tablecloth
Placemats
Dishes from home
Silverware
Napkins
Plastic fancy glasses
Citronella candles in vases
Cheerful flowers

My version of glamping also consisted of bringing actual meals to cook! Yes, we did do baked beans and hot dogs too...

Our first night we cooked some yummy Campfire Dilly Chicken (some oil on tinfoil with chicken breast thinly sliced and chopped onion, sprinkled with dill) with a side of Garlicky Potatoes & Carrots (oil, potatoes, garlic & carrots in tinfoil) along side a glass or two of wine!

Next time we will remember some tongs to flip our food over the campfire-Mike worked his magic with some sticks instead!

My version of glamping also consisted of watching sunsets by the lake....
This was the view from our site and out our tent door....
And of course whether your glamping or just plain ole' camping...Smores are mandatory!
We did some hiking...

And ate some more food...

Campfire Nachos for lunch! Super easy and delicious...Put a layer or baked beans and cooked ground beef (I pre-cooked at home) into a frying pan or baking sheet and follow with a layer of nachos, chopped peppers, tomatoes, onions-whatever you like on your nachos. Layer with tons of cheese! Set on grill over campfire and cook until everything is warmed through! Use salsa and sour cream for dipping...sooo yummy!

So what do you think of our trip? Are you up for some Glamping?

I'm loving those outfits! I'm pretty sure I have two similar ones pinned.

That looks fun! The only thing I hate about camping is mosquitos :)
