Westyn has started walking!!! Friday was the big day and he's been on a role every since!!! Here's a little video for you taken on Saturday...(please ignore my over excited voice-LOL!-and the ladder in the background-and Gray's wonderful singing-LOL-he's my little wannabe rockstar!) Anyway....
Your eyes are so gorgeous! Linking this one up with the 'Sparkle' Challenge over here...
and at Show Off Your Shot...
Hard to believe that 9 months ago, you came into this world and made our family complete...
Hard to believe that for the past two days you have been puking and you are still smiling...
Hard to believe that no matter how many times your older brother pushes you away, you always come back for more with that little sparkle in your eye...
In the past two weeks and a bit ...
...you've pulled yourself up to a standing position in your crib, and any other surface you can get a grip on.
...your still scooting around with one leg underneath you on your bum, except on carpet.
...your first tooth poked through the day after Christmas.
...your second tooth looks like it's on it's way too!
...you've discovered Cheerios, and can't get enough!
Throughout Westyn's 8 months of life we have been comparing him to Grayson...when he first smiled, when he first sat up, when he slept through the night... I constantly check Gray's baby book to see when he mastered things. I keep forgetting the Gray was doing things way before other babies when he was younger though. He was crawling at just 7 months, pulled himself up in his crib and to the couch at just 7.5 months. Westyn, at almost 8 months, is doing neither. He is pushing himself to a sitting position in his crib and moving around like a crazy fool...check this out...
And no, I don't usually let my son play with the container of wipes...and he usually has two socks on...but of course for the sake of the video I had to liven things up ;)
Again, I don't usually leave plastic bags lying around...LOL. And look!! I was cleaning, the vacuum is out in the background...haha... Gotta love videos!
It seems I am up for the 'bad mom of the year award' though...because three days in a row I have had to fish something out of Westyn's mouth! The first day was a piece of blue of chalk! The next day was a tire off a toy tractor, and today it was a Salt Dough Ornament that Gray had painted! Good job none of the above items are toxic and no choking was involved. I think he cried more because I took his chew toys away!
Oh, and when blue chalk goes in...it comes back out blue as well...just so you know...
Gosh, it feels good to be back to the normal grind of things! I really missed posting about the daily happenings in our lives and have lots of pics and stories to share! All in good time though my friends!
Daddy refers to me as the little 'Hellion'...I prefer to think of myself as 'Spirited'...I like to test the boundaries and I love getting mommy and daddy's attention! Sometimes I cry when I am frustrated and throw things when I don't get my way...sometimes I think it's fun to throw my food all over the floor and watch mommy and daddy pick it up. I'm not really all that bad though... I really love cuddling with mommy and wrestling with daddy on the floor. Looking at 'choo choos' and balls in books is fun, and getting mommy to draw birds, planes and buses is fun too! Throwing my bouncy ball up and down the stairs with Daddy makes me laugh so much...
See? I'm not really all that terrible...my good qualities definitely out weigh the bad ones, don't you think? Plus...I AM PRETTY DARN CUTE! s
Has it really been 18 months? Time is flying by and in the craziness of Christmas wrapping, baking, buying and so much more, our little man had his 18 month birthday.
So over breakfast of oatmeal and blueberries, we said Happy 'sorry we forgot yesturday' Birthday!Since this little guy is always on the go, it's been hard to capture pictures of his beautiful happy smile and mullet of curly locks lately, but we tried! His love for the camera helped, and his crazy "cheese" smile kills me! Camera hog!

I knew this moment was coming soon...Gray had been toying with the idea for a few months now...I could see him watching us, wondering why he couldn't do it yet...trying to take a little step here and there. First, it was a few steps between the end of the chaise to the middle of the couch, and then he would fall dramatically into our arms. Next, it was a random moment in the middle of the floor, he was concentrating so hard on a toy, when his legs magically lifted up and and he was like, 'look mom, I'm standing!' Only to realize a second later that in fact that was what he was doing, and then his bum would hit the floor!
This past week though, Gray started to make good progress...the look on his face...he's so proud!! You gotta love the tongue sticking out too...PRICELESS!
Blowing kisses is Gray's favourite new thing and it just melts your heart...well he blew me a kiss and I blew one back, then he came in for a hug and then gave me a huge raspberry on my bare shoulder! Love!!Next thing you know both my shoulders are covered in drool and the kid is giggling like crazy!...all I could think of was that I didn't ever want this moment to be over!
Which brings me to the thought that next week I will be returning to work...kinda bittersweet. I really am looking forward to returning to a job that I really love, but it has been so nice to enjoy my year off with the best guy in the whole wide world. How can I leave him for 8 hours a day? Well, its not like its a new thing...Gray's been at the babysitters a few times, as I have been working a bit here and there already, and millions of other moms do it every day...
Weird, how a year ago I was wondering how I would adjust to staying at home and now I am wondering how I will adjust to going back to work. Or how I will juggle working, being a good mom, getting the house clean and have supper ready?...Just the many talents of a mom I suppose.
d So in the last couple days Gray has decided that he will do everything that I have been trying to get him to do in the last couple months! I really was convinced that my efforts in educating our son were going down the toilet!
To start, my son has not said 'Dada', ever! 'Mum Mum', or mama', he would say...but when we said 'Dada' to him, he would laugh at us! As if to say, 'I'm not gonna say that, are you crazy'? Well a couple days ago, I could have sworn he said 'daaa' and then this morning he said 'Daaayyyyy' when the Mr. came up the back stairs. This could be the beginning of something, and I know it would make Daddy very happy.
Second, the little dude has been waling all around the house on his musical walker and the chairs at the dining room table have never got so much action. They have been getting a good tour of the house, that's for sure. This morning, he let go of the couch and his feet took a few little shuffles to reach his grandpas hands!!! Where was the camera when I needed it!!! I was so proud!!!! I did manage to capture this video yesterday though...
Third, about a month ago, he blew a kiss, and has not done it since, even when I pestered him 5 or 6 times a day to blow kisses. Then this morning, he was blowing them all around, to anything...the cat, to me, to Daddy, Grandpa, to the footstool...so cute!!! Again, where was the camera?
And fourth, on cue, he did patty cake!!!!! Now, he hasn't quite figured out how to clap his hands together every single time, but he makes a good effort!
So I wonder what took him so long, why this morning did it all come together? He was on good behaviour...must have heard talk about going to IKEA today... ;)
As if on cue, little hands and knees are pounding on the floor in a 'I can't go fast enough' kind of way. His breathing gets noisier and as he approaches the door, the squeals of delight get louder. That's right folks, my child loves this door. Or perhaps its whats behind the door...since the hall door shuts him out from the stairs and the bathroom. My little man has been climbing for about a month now. It started out as two or three stairs at a time, now he can get to the top, around the corner and back down them! Its just so cute how excited he gets though, when he realizes the door is open. No matter how sneaky or quiet we are with opening the door...the dude just knows!
