It had been over 10 years since I had been camping...so Mike and I figured it was about time to camp it up...and you know what? I missed it! Some people wouldn't peg me as a 'sleep in the tent with the wild animals' kind of gal, and I'll admit I do prefer the comfort of my bed, but I do really enjoy 'roughing' it out in the wilderness too :) Minus the wild animals.

Ok, actually I did have a secret plan up my sleeve for making things a bit more comfortable while we were camping....

I had been secretly hoping for a beach trip over the July 1st long weekend, and my wish came true! It came at the perfect time, right when life had us at a crossroads and a breather was needed, when fun & relaxation needed to be a priority. Something about the freshness of the moist air, the noisy squawking seagulls and rush of waves that calm me.

Day Tripping

As a one car family-let's just say that most days during the week are spent at home. On the odd occasion that a car is needed (this particular day, Grayson had JK registration-eek!), Daddy gets a ride to work and we go pick him up. On route to get Daddy we made a pit stop at the river for a little walk....

One Last Summer Hoorah!

Although looking at our pics, I'm not sure that 'one last summer hoorah' is the correct title...it looks more like a 'welcome fall weekend' at the cottage! As some of you already know, last weekend Mike and I got away from the kids and headed up to a friends cottage...

It was a gorgeous, relaxing, much need time together weekend.

Wordless {ish} Wednesday-Girls Just Want To Have Fun

I am a bit behind on photos and I have so much to show and tell you from these last few busy weeks...I've been a bit or a procrastinator lately in regards to writing a real post...not sure why...but oh well...I'm going with it, and we have been having tons of fun away from the computer!!

Last week my adorable little niece stayed with us for a bit...SO MUCH FUN...

Currently & Lately

Currently...

loving: being back in the retail world and interacting with adults again!!! It's nice to get to use that side of my brain again! I'm also loving the feeling of accomplishing something, gaining some control over little things in my life is so rewarding!

thinking about: reorganizing 'stuff', going through all my old clothes and boxes and purging! Printing off some new family photos and framing them-I haven't changed out our photos for nearly 2 years...Westyn is non existent on our walls except for a couple in the living room!
listening to: the kids laughing in the background while they wrestle with daddy, Old MacDonald playing in the CD player.
drinking: Vanilla Bean Chai Tea...mmmm...
reading: some of my favourite blogs, that I have been neglecting. 
watching: the chocolate chip cookies bake through the oven door.
anticipating: the opening of my shop next week...and those cookies to be ready to eat :)

 

Lately...

the kids: have not been having very many of the moments as seen above, instead they have been at each other's throats, laughing at first about it, then screaming minutes into playing.

life: has been pretty crazy, I was working 3 evenings this past week, which took a bit of time away from stuff that usually fills my evenings{ my blog, emails and working on pieces for my shop} and family time...

i've: been trying to balance my time better, and trying to bring family time into the forefront, instead of it being at the end of my list. I'm a SAHM for a reason and I really want to focus more on that.
my house: is in need of a major cleaning, the floors are so sticky and the toilet {urgh} -little boy pee is  always on the seat. 
i wish: that it would stop raining! It has been three days of indoor play and no visits to the park...gearing me up for winter I suppose...

earlier on in the week, we picked some flowers...

 the boys rode their bikes...

 concentration is nearly impossible without your tongue hanging out...

Grayson even attempted his big boy bike, which he's been afraid of for about a month now...

Smores Lovin'

Our Friday night included a fire pit, chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers...friends chatting and squealing kids in the background. It was a good night! One more thing to check off our Summer Bucket List!
