Oh, Canada

My Canada Day post is a bit late...oh well...caring for two children took precedence over writing a blog post. Haha! The weather was fantastic and we had a fabulous holiday weekend! We even managed to knock a few things off our Summer Bucket List!

Like campfires:

We did the campfire/smores thing...I think this might be a summer staple :) Although, Gray enjoyed eating the marshmallows on there own not mushed between two graham crackers...he's crazy for sure!

I can't believe that Westyn is already 3 months old...time flies by way to fast!

Brighter Days Ahead

This past week was crap! Rainy, dreary days of being inside were beginning to seem like routine.

The sun that played a trick on us...then it rained!

The first ray of sunshine that poked through renewed us...we became less snappy at each other, patience came back into view, and temper tantrums faded away. We headed to the park to let out some pent up energy!

Momma...come sit beside me!

The only downside about being outside? Trying to get them to come inside for lunch! :)

Have a Happy Victoria Day weekend!

Eggs, Candy and Hippity Hop Fun!

It was a busy Easter weekend in our neck of the woods, the weather was beautiful and we got to spend time with family and friends...all in all, there was lots of fun to be had!

Gray was pretty disappointed when there wasn't candy in all the eggs!

Our first egg hunt was a bit spontaneous, so a gift bag took place of an Easter basket!

The second egg hunt, at my parents house, was a bit more planned and of course Gray now knew exactly what to do!

Checking out all the loot!

Easter weekend also brought together the first meeting of new cousins!

Happy 3 Week birthday Westyn!

{Life Made Lovely Monday}

What's making my life lovely today?

Aside from today being a holiday and the freshly fallen snow in our yard...thoughts of the weekend are making my life lovely...

It was long overdue for both Mike and myself...we finally got away and had some 'couple' time! Gray went for a sleepover at his Granny and Gramp's house and we went on a 30 minute road trip to a nearby town...I figured it was now or never cause in a month or so, our 'alone' time will be very limited!

It was exactly what we needed...we spent the day shopping browsing the local shops and then checked into our fabulous hotel, complete with fireplace and jacuzzi! Everything was perfect..we were greeted with homemade cookies, apples and bottles of water for a snack and robes on the bed. We spent the later part of the afternoon relaxing on our super comfy king sized bed before getting ready for an even more fabulous dinner (part of our hotel weekend getaway package)...the food was delicious and the service was amazing. We spent a couple hours just sitting, eating and talking, people watching through the window seat view we had. Oh, and I had the most fabulous Virgin Pina Colada!!!

The hotel even had a list of DVDs that you could borrow...so we cozied up after dinner and watched a few movies from the comfort of bed, the hum of a baby monitor far from our minds! BLISS!!

So, what's making your life lovelier today?

Weekend Thoughts

g
I realize I haven't been writing much this past little bit...and it comes down to time...oh, how I wish I had more time! More time for cuddles with Gray, more time for laundry and dusting, more time to scrapbook and paint, more time for date nights with my husband...but the reality is that time is only what I make it. Sometimes my time for cleaning is spent surfing the net, my hubby time is spent going to bed early. Cuddles are far and few between, because Gray is running and building and far too busy to sit with is mommy. But it's all good...cause that is what our so called life entails...I just have to remember to stop and 'smell the flowers', so to speak. I have to get back to the roots of my blog... enjoying the little things along the way...

The smell of autumn is in the air...back to school shoppers are buying their new clothes, mums have appeared at the doors of many houses, and my grass has a few brown leaves scattered about. This got me excited...excited, at the thought that scrapbooking season is near- I consider the cold weather perfect for scrapbooking, as in the warmer months, I am outside way too much- Excited, that Halloween, pumpkins, turkey, stuffing and cool nights are approaching!

So here's to the last weekend of summer...and to a few random photos from the weekend...

New post on my Etsy page:

Homemade Potato Soup mmm:

And a little boy that is obsessed with climbing into baskets...he screams trying to get in, and screams trying to get out...but is cute in the process!

Happy Labour Day!

Hustle & Bustle

g
The long weekend is over. It was three days of doing stuff, packing stuff, cleaning, cooking and all in between. I'm kinda glad its over. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the whole three days! While trying to squeeze naps and housework into an already busy weekend was, we were out enjoying the warm muggy weather on Saturday at Rib Fest, an annual must go to....mmmm...the vendors were great, the food was great -although, I must remember not to eat before I go next time!

MMM...pulled pork on a bun!

Hanging on for dear life!

Hanging out with Aunt Cindy

Gray ended up with some kind of rash, possibly heat rash?, on his face and back ...but it didn't bother him in the least. I wasn't too worried about it...until....

Sunday....ah Sunday...I have to say the morning started out amazing...things were just happy, with smiles, hugs all around...that's a whole other blog-coming soon! Anyway, we were packing the car, making desserts and preparing to go to the annual family pool party. Cousins and aunts and uncles...everyone is there, swimming and eating and drinking! Its a great time!

But back to the rash...Gray still had a few spots on his cheeks...but after we dried him off from the pool and he was playing and climbing around...his face totally broke out! I had never seen anything like it...then I got worried, was it a heat rash? Did he eat something? Is it Chicken Pox?Measles? He seemed happy though?
I got convinced that it was probably something he ate, although I can't think of anything he had that was out of the ordinary, except for the food he had at Rib Fest, but would it take that long to go through his system? A whole day? So we went along as if everything was fine, gave him some Benadryl when we got home, and off he went to bed. The next morning the spots were not as bad, still there, but no where near as prominent. They seem more noticeable when we are outside playing...so maybe it is heat related?

If it doesn't clear up soon, I guess we are off to the Dr.s!
Overall, it was a great weekend spent with great people...but it's nice to come back to reality and our everyday routine. Another work week started....another weekend gone by!
