To Die for Brownies

First...I'm looking for crafters, guest posters and etsy shop owners to be involved in my Kick Off to Chirstmas!Click the link or contact me for more info!

Second...Awhile ago I mentioned that I make killer brownies...I made some this weekend for my 'girls' night-which was fabulous by the way!! I can't remember the last time I went out and had fun with just girls!! No kids, no husbands...it was great!!!

Anyway, I am getting off topic, what I want to say is that I decided I should let you in on the recipe because like I said, they are to die for!!!! So here they are!

Brownies

1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 unsweetened chocolate baking squares ( 1 oz, 28g. each), Cut up
1 1/2 cups brown sugar, packed
2 large eggs
1 tbsp vanilla
1 cup all purpose flour
3/4 chopped nuts (optional)

Icing
1 1/3 cup confectioner's sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
3 tbsp butter or margarine
1 1/2 tbsp hot prepared coffee

* I've made these brownies with butter and then with margarine, just to compare...and both taste equally great! Oh, and I didn't add nuts to this batch.

Chop up chocolate squares into small pieces.

Heat margarine and chocolate in a saucepan over the lowest heat, stirring often, until chocolate is almost melted. Remove from heat (don't overheat!) and stir until smooth.

Add brown sugar. Stir. Add in eggs and vanilla. Stir well.

Add flour ( and nuts), stir until just moistened. Spread evenly in greased 8x11 pan (recipe originally calls for 9x9, but I don't have one). Then lick off spoon and leftover batter in bowl! Mmmm!

Bake in 350 degree (175) oven for 25 minutes, until wooden toothpick inserted in center comes out moist but not wet with batter. Allow to cool.

Mmmmmmmmm! Feel free to taste your creation, I know I did!

Icing
Beat all 4 ingredients in small bowl until smooth. Add more coffee or icing sugar depending on consistency desired. Spread evenly over cooled brownies! If you can wait that long!

These brownies are the perfect combination of crispness and oohey gooey goodness, plus the icing melts in your mouth and it is a little bit of heaven in each bite! Be careful though, they are super duper sweet!!
Enjoy!
