You've Got Mail & Kitchen Design Board

I'm not sure about you, but I love getting little parcels in the mail...it just makes all those bills and flyer's look a bit more cheerful doesn't it? Last week was a particularly busy week for our mail lady...between some clothes I ordered for the boys and my fabric samples for the kitchen curtains, I also got my business cards in the mail from Moo! Did you know that if you have an Etsy shop you can get 50 free (you pay shipping) business cards from Moo! I just stumbled upon that and totally rushed over to get my freebies. I've seen a few other bloggers with Moo cards and thought they always looked really great....and truth be told they are fabulous! I wish the freebies came with the option for rounded corners, but oh well...here's what mine look like...

You should totally go on over to Moo and order up some for yourself! I even have a discount code/link for you to get 10% off your order if your not an Etsy Shop Owner...click here. Click here for the 50 Freebies if you are :)

Like I mentioned above my fabric samples came in the mail too, so I've finally chosen a fabric for my kitchen curtains...oh, I love it so much. It's so happy and colorful. I had been looking all over for a pattern that just said 'hi, buy me. i love you," but could only find boring, old lady like stuff around here. So after searching the net for what seemed like hours I finally came upon Tonic Living. What I loved about this site was first, that they were Canadian-yay! And second, their selection was fabulous as well as their prices. I was not keen on paying upwards of $20 for a nice fabric at other places! I finally narrowed it down to a couple that I loved and then ordered a sample of each one for only $1! This was the final step in pulling together a design inspiration board for my kitchen once it's finished! Here it is...

Kinda a modern, rustic, crafty combo...LOL...if that's a style! I wanted to keep the background to the kitchen fairly simple and neutral, so we have gray countertops, white shaker style cabinets, weathered nickle handles and Barley Beige as the wall color. I love the that we picked out too, which is a 1x2 glass tile in a slate color. We still haven't decided on a floor, so this is just a representation of what we like. All the accessories in the room will be bright and happy, just like my fabric choice!! I absolutely love these vintage canisters that my mom was going to get rid of!!! No way, I said, I'll take them...plus, I grew up with these sitting on our kitchen countertops! Oohh and did you catch a glimpse of that light? I made it!!! Tutorial will be coming later on!

So that's it for today, happy Monday friends!

This post is my own personal opinion and was not endorsed or sponsored in any way by Moo or Tonic Living.

A little bit of sweetness...

...or rather a little bit of heaven. Have you tried PC Red Velvet Cheesecake? I highly suggest you do...
Kinda reminds me of the 'Friends' episode when Rachel and Chandler keep stealing their neighbours cheesecake that gets delivered to her door because it is so delicious!! Oh, I would steal this off someones plate any day!Mmmm...

Scenes from the cottage- part two

D
I took over 300 pictures at the cottage...I know! I know! I really do have a problem...but that bracketing button is just so much fun! So here is the final installment of the cottage pictures, it was really hard to narrow them down!

Gray slept half way to the cottage...it was a 5 hour drive. On the way home he only slept for half an hour! It was a very long drive home...

Don't you wish you were a fly on the wall...I wonder what they were talking about...?

Charlie (dog) liked his life jacket...Gray did not...but I think the thrill of his first boat ride made it worthwhile!

The water was a bit chilly...this was maybe one of two pics in which Gray was not screaming!

I (Mike) forgot to pack his bathing suit...at least guys can get away with wearing shorts.

The end :)

Oh sooo good!

D
Call me a cautious mom, but whenever I give Gray something to eat, I cut it up into bit size pieces...maybe its because of the mess..or maybe it's because I know that he will try to fit it all in his mouth at once!! So, with me being all relaxed and stuff while we were on vacation...I figured, what the heck...how much of a mess can he really make?

First of all, he loved it!

Second of all, I loved it too!!

Magical Door

As if on cue, little hands and knees are pounding on the floor in a 'I can't go fast enough' kind of way. His breathing gets noisier and as he approaches the door, the squeals of delight get louder. That's right folks, my child loves this door. Or perhaps its whats behind the door...since the hall door shuts him out from the stairs and the bathroom. My little man has been climbing for about a month now. It started out as two or three stairs at a time, now he can get to the top, around the corner and back down them! Its just so cute how excited he gets though, when he realizes the door is open. No matter how sneaky or quiet we are with opening the door...the dude just knows!

Beginning

I wanted to come up with a really meaningful idea for a blog, something inspirational, life altering; shaking a person to the core.

Ah, wouldn't that be nice to have such power, but I am not superwoman.

I am just me, a normal everyday kind of woman. Normal in the sense that I could be your neighbour, your friend, the person that walks by you on the street. I am a mother, a wife, a daughter and a sister. I have a comfortable and happy life. I have the best of friends-although we live too far apart, and I am married to a great guy. My husband, Mike, is someone who loves me for me, and who doesn't care that I can be a bit of a perfectionist-it really would be a lot easier if he would just do as I say!!! Because I usually am right! :) He laughs at me when I break out in a crazy dance, he gets my sarcastic humour, and usually doesn't laugh at me when I cry at silly commercials. Sometimes he does though, but I am ok with that! Best of all, Mike is a great dad! My son, Gray, is ten months old...and growing by the second! He is probably my proudest accomplishment! I am not sure how he turned out to be so darn cute, it must be because of me ;) He inspires me everyday, watching him learn new things, and study objects so seriously with such intent, my heart just wants to eat him. Literally if I could gobble him up, I would. Any other mom understands this, right?

Sometimes life just seems to go by so fast. My year of maternity leave is almost up, I will soon be back at work full time and these days of lounging around in my pj's will be gone. A lot of people ask me if I get bored at home, my answer-NO! I actually love being at home, cleaning and vacuuming are fun- except for dishes-I hate dishes! And I have the convenience of going on the Internet 10 or 20 times day if I like. Plus I play with my son...blocks...cars...chase, you name it...how long has it been since you played on the floor or crawled on your knees?

Returning to work will be nice though. Real adult conversation? No way! I get to put on nice clothes and make it through the day without spit up or snot on my shoulder? Cool!

So maybe I should write about just that? Life. The simple things that we take for granted. The things that make you pause, giggle, and smile. The things that make you sad, cry and want to punch someone. I can document those milestones, and if someone else takes a liking to what I've written, all the better!

It may not be ground breaking, or different, buts its the stuff that leaves a lasting impression on me...my IMPRINTS.
